Danube House: Modernising Building Technologies with a Focus on Efficiency and Longevity
Karolinská 650/1, Praha | 2026
The Danube House office building, completed in 2003, is undergoing a gradual modernisation of its technical systems with a focus on energy efficiency, user comfort and long-term sustainable operation. As part of this process, MINIB HC floor convectors are being installed.
Danube House represents an early generation of modern office buildings in Prague, originally designed with an emphasis on economical operation. After more than twenty years of service, selected technical systems are now being upgraded – not through a single large-scale renovation, but by means of a carefully planned, phased modernisation. The aim is to reduce energy consumption, extend the building’s service life and maintain a high level of indoor comfort.
As part of this upgrade, MINIB HC floor convectors were selected to provide efficient heating and cooling while preserving a clean and unobtrusive interior design. This solution is particularly suitable for office spaces with large glazed façades, where even heat distribution, low noise levels and seamless integration into the floor structure are essential.
The installation is being carried out in stages. The first convector has already been installed, with further units to follow in subsequent phases of the refurbishment. The project demonstrates that office buildings from the early 2000s can be successfully adapted to meet current requirements for energy efficiency and sustainable operation without extensive structural intervention.
Mounting with applied insulating anti-vibration foil. Details of the Minib HC convector, which can also cool.
From the building and the Rohan embankment there are interesting views of the surroundings of Karlín. Here, for example, Vítkov Hill and the tower in Žižkov.
